Christopher's New Found Love for Basketball

An interesting thing has happened to my kids since we moved New Jersey. Sports happened. And by that I mean we are in a different part of the world when it comes to sports. People here take their sports and their diehard loyalty for their teams verry seriously. I have not experienced this level of sports enthusiasm since leaving my hometown of Boston (where it's all about the Pats, Bruins, Celts, and the Sox)... I have to admit, it's really fun to be living in a sports-oriented part of the country again (even though people here root for the wrong teams, HA!).
Christopher has made some nice friends at school who happen to be interested in basketball, among other team-oriented sports. They play every day at recess. He's been asking us to sign him up, and I think we will. When I was a kid, I played basketball and really loved it. Tonight after dinner, we went over to Chris' school, and played for about an hour. I had so much fun myself, I didn't want to leave. It's great exercise! The hoops at school are pretty tall, and somewhat beyond his capability (though I was pretty impressed that he managed to make several shots!). Tomorrow, we are heading over to Toys "R"Us to get a nice hoop for our driveway. Perfect for after school fun!
Here's a quick video that was intended to be a Vine, but the app crashed while I was trying to upload. I posted it to my YouTube channel instead.

Feeling spring-y in the city

We had great weather this past weekend, so we decided to take advantage of it, and head into the city for a bit. We are really enjoying living in such close proximity to NYC. We knew the boys would LOVE to see the legendary FAO Schwarz, so we centered in on this as our destination for the day. Boy, were we right. I think we spent over two hours in that store! It was fun. We checked out all of the cool (and terrifyingly oversized) candy, the Lego displays, the Skylanders, and of course all of the action heroes. The kids really loved it.

Given we would be on 5th Ave, I thought it would be a great opportunity to have my beautiful watch that Greg gave me for our first wedding anniversary serviced at Tiffany. I love this watch, and it's been several years since I've been able to wear it. The strap had been torn from wear, the buckle broken, and the battery dead. I think it had been that way since we had the kids. I had brought it in to several local jewelers back in Rochester, but none would service it. So, in my drawer it sat.
Finally getting it back in working order has been wonderful. I feel like I have a brand new watch!
My awesome watch, finally restored.
